Exam Preparation Courses at Callan School

Which courses do we run?

At Callan School, we run regular courses for the following exams:

• PET - Preliminary English Test
  PET is a general English exam at intermediate level, or Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B1.
  This is approximately Callan Method Stage 5.

• FCE - First Certificate in English
  FCE is a general English exam at upper-intermediate level, or CEFR B2.
  This is approximately Callan Method Stages 9 and 10.

• CAE - Certificate in Advanced English
  CAE is a general English exam at advanced level, or CEFR C1.
  This is approximately Callan Method Stage 12.
  For more information on this exam, click here.
• NB: Owing to other projects taking place at the school, there will be no CAE course to prepare students for the December 2011 exam. The next course will start in April 2012 in order to prepare for the exam in June 2012.
• IELTS - International English Language Testing System. Many universities and colleges in the UK require a good IELTS score from students before they study or train at their establishment. For more information on this exam, click here.

Our courses involve practice in all areas relevant to the exams. Teachers use various materials, including real past exam papers. Students on exam courses are expected to do homework outside school.

How can I register for a course?

To register for one of our exam courses, please follow the instructions below:

PET

• Please phone us for more information (020 7437 4573) or visit the school and speak to one of our receptionists in person.
• Before you join a preparation course for PET, you will need to come to the school and take a written ‘pre-test’ so that we can check your level and advise you whether to do the course or wait.

FCE

• Please phone us for more information (020 7437 4573) or visit the school and speak to one of our receptionists in person.
• Before you join a preparation course for FCE, you will need to come to the school and take a written ‘pre-test’ so that we can check your level and advise you whether to do the course or wait.

CAE

• Please email cae at callan dot co dot uk or telephone 020 7437 5540 and speak to one of the course organisers. They will provide you with more information. However, a better idea would be to visit the school and speak to us in person.
• Before you join a preparation course for CAE, you will need to come to the school and take a written ‘pre-test’ so that we can check your level and advise you whether to do the course or wait.

IELTS
